The upper Bay of Fundy coastline and the Shepody National Wildlife Area offer some of the most spectacular and scenic landscapes in all of Atlantic Canada. As we explore below the high tide line, our footprints will be but a pleasant memory in a few short hours as Fundy’s giant tides will erase any evidence of our passing.  Quarries, and the remains of abandoned wharves, provide evidence of a once prosperous era.

Petrified wood, fossilized plants and uniquely shaped sandstone, exposed and carved by the incessant and powerful tides of Fundy attest to the areas rich geologic past.

Share with us this spectacular beauty!  Enjoy some of the most undeveloped and unknown stretches of Fundy’s coastline.  Experience the raw power of Fundy’s giant tides.

Frequently Asked Hiking Questions

How difficult are the hiking tours?

The difficulty of Baymount hiking tours varies.  Most tours are rated as Easy to Moderate and suitable for most healthy active adults and youth (>12).  Some coastal hikes are rated as Moderate + because of the rocky, slippery terrain that is exposed during the low tide.  Extra caution must be exercised when walking on the wet rocks and seaweed covered rocks that are exposed with the falling tide.

Should I bring my camera?

Absolutely!  All of our coastal hikes occur in the heart of the most scenic area of the UNESCO Bay of Fundy Biosphere Reserve.

Is this tour suitable for families and children?

Because of the walking distances, slower pace and interpretive nature of all hikes, they are best suited to adults and youth (>12).  Private tours can be made to accommodate the interest and abilities of most individuals and families.

How should I dress for the tour?

The weather on the Bay of Fundy is very unpredictable, so guests should bring clothing for warm, cool and wet weather. Sturdy footwear - hiking shoes are recommended - no sandals.  Don't forget hat, sunscreen, sunglasses, camera and binoculars.
